S.T.A.R.S. SUMMER CAMP
(Success Through Arts, Recreation and School)

Dates: June 20-24, June 27-July 1

Ages: K-5th grade students attending Danville and Boyle County Schools.

Times: 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. daily at Junction City Elementary School.

Cost: $45 per student per week ($40 each for two or more children in a family) Includes transportation, swimming, breakfast and lunch.

Students will rotate daily in the following four enhancement activities:

"Leaping" into sports games/activities. All students will need to bring a swimsuit and towel one day each week to learn water safety and swim at the KSD pool, with parental permission.

"Hopping" into arts and humanities. Students will make characters of a story or book come alive before their eyes. Primary students will visit the public library once during the week.

"Transforming" technology skills. Intermediate students will use interactive Play Station CDs to increase reading skills. Primary students will increase their reading skills using new LeapFrog interactive books. Students' technology skills will be expanded.

"Jumping" for science. Students will learn scientific methods and utilize language arts skills through exciting science experiments.

DANVILLE-BOYLE COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Millennium Park Summer Day Camp

Dates: Beginning 10 a.m. June 6 in Millennium Park. Camp will be in one-week sessions, Monday through Thursday. Friday will be used as a weather make-up day. If more than one day per week must be made up, participant will be given free pool passes.

Ages: 7-12

Cost: $25 per person per week ($10 discount for additional children in the same immediate household.)

Activities involve supervised play, games and arts/craft time. Lunch is provided, then children will be transported to the Davis Recreation al Complex Pool for supervised swimming. Children should be picked up at the pool no later than 3 p.m. If you would like for your child to remain at the pool until 5 p.m., there will be an additional $2 charge per day.

Must pre-register and sign registration form prior to the week child is attending.

Swimming lessons

Dates: Session 1, June 6-10; session 2, June 13-17; Session 3, June 20-24; Session 4, June 27-July 1; Session 5, July 5-9; Session 6, July 11-15; session 7 July 18-22; session 8, July 25-29; session 9, Aug. 1-5. Beginner classes last 30 minutes and intermediate and advanced classes last 45 minutes.

Ages: 3-14

Cost: $25 per child for five-day session, with a $5 discount for additional children in the same family. Lessons given at Davis Recreational Complex. Registration may be made by phone, however, all fees must be paid prior to the first lesson.

Tennis lessons

Dates: June 6-July 18. No classes July 4.

Beginner, 9-10:15 a.m. Monday and Wednesday for ages 7-13 or 7-8:15 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday for ages 14 and up; intermediate, 10:30-11:45 a.m. Monday and Wednesday for ages 7-13; and double-shot and strategy improvement, 6-7:30 p.m. Monday for ages 14 and up.

Public Pool

Open noon-7 p.m. and 1-6 p.m. beginning May 28 at Davis Recreation Center. Pool will close at 4 p.m. on certain Wednesdays due to swim meets. All children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cost: $3, or $2, after 5 p.m. Season memberships for families are $150, for individuals $50.

YMCA SUMMER DAY CAMP

Dates: June 6-July 29. No camp July 4.

Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Harrodsburg YMCA and area parks. Activities scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Ages: 5-12

Cost: $20 annual membership; $80 a week for one child; $145 a week for two children; and $210 a week for three children. Registrations taken until May 27. Space limited to 60.

Swim lessons

Location: Centre College

Cost: $4 for ages 6-12; $35 for ages 3-5; and $20, annual fee.

Session 1: June 6-16; Session 2: June 27-July 9; and Session 3, July 11-21. Preschool times are 10-10:30 a.m.; 11-11:30 a.m., 5-5:30 p.m. and 6-6:30 p.m. Youth times are 10-10:45 a.m., 11-11:45 a.m., 5-5:45 p.m. and 6-6:45 p.m.

TWINKLE TOES DANCE CAMP

Dates: 10 a.m.-noon June 27-July 8. No class July 4. Register by May 31. Space for 20.

Ages: 6-9

ARTS FOR KIDS

Summer Inter-Related Arts Half Day Camp

Dates: June 6-10, June 13-17 and June 20-24 at the Community Arts Center

Ages: 5-14

Theme: "For Earth's Sake." Students will participate in three daily sessions in a combination of drama, movement, music, writing and visual arts, working towards the creation of a living work of art culminating in a lunch-hour presentation.

Cost: $145 for three weeks, $115 for two weeks, $65 for one week.

DANVILLE KID'S UNIVERSITY CAMP

Dates: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. June 13-17 at Bate Middle School.

Ages: Grades 3-5 (for the 2005-06 school year).

Cost: $40 for week-long session. Breakfast will be served between 8:15 and 8:25 a.m. Limited scholarships available. No refunds after first day of program.

Transportation: Bus transportation provided. Car riders must be dropped off/picked up at the Bate side door closest to the football stadium. Drop off time: 8:15-8:30 a.m. Pick up time: 12:30 p.m.

MAKE POTTERY CAMP

Dates: June 7 through the end of July at Ceramic Creations by Jacque.

Ages: 6 and up

Cost: $18 per day or $60 per week

Schedule: Tuesday, texture day; Wednesday, crystal glazes; Thursday, clever clay; Friday, make a plate.

Time: 10 a.m.-noon

LADY REBELS BASKETBALL CAMPS

Dates: June 1-4 at Boyle County High School

Ages: Grades K-8

BOYLE COUNTY BASKETBALL YOUTH DAY CAMP

K.C.'s GYMNASTICS

Summer schedule: 10 a.m.-noon Mondays and Wednesdays; 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays

Ages: 8 months and up. Beginner through advanced levels and cheerleading offered. Power tumbling for boys available. Missed classes can be made up.

Cost: $36 a month.

CENTRE SOCCER CLINICS

Youth Development Series

Dates: June 1-20, three days a week at Centre College soccer game field.

Times and ages: Grades 1 and 2, 5:30-6:30 p.m., grades 3 and 4, 6:45-8 p.m.

Cost: $125 for the session. This includes a T-shirt. A $50 non-refundable deposit must accompany the registration form.

16th Annual Boy's Soccer Camp

Dates: July 3-8

Ages: 10-18

Cost: $415 for a residential camper and $215 for a commuter. Team discounts are available.

8th Annual Girl's Soccer Camp

Dates: June 26-July 1

Ages: 10-18

Cost: $415 for a residential camper and $215 for a commuter. Team discounts are available.

NATURE DISCOVERY CAMP

Location: Central Kentucky Wildlife Refuge's 500 acres bordering the North Rolling Fork River.

Dates: Single-day camps 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning June 27-June 30

An intensive environmental camp designed to introduce young people to environmental studies. Activities include water sampling of the North Rolling Fork River, hiking, games, nature crafts and other hands-on projects.

Cost: $100 per week, lunch provided, transportation is available upon request.

EPHRAIM MCDOWELL CAMPS

Health Care Careers Camp

Dates: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. June 13-17 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. The camp is open to future doctors, nurses, radiology techs, rehabilitation therapists, lab personnel, pharmacists and other future health care professionals. The camp will offer hands-on experiences in the emergency department, laboratory and pharmacy.

Cost: $150 per person. Transportation will be provided from Versailles, Lancaster, Stanford, Springfield, Liberty and Harrodsburg. Financial assistance is available.

A Children's Place Camp

Dates: May 31-July 29

Ages: 5-10 (must be 5 on or before May 31)

The theme for this year's camp is "Back to the Future." Campers will travel back in time to learn about American culture in the 20th century. Each week will focus on one decade, learning about the sports, art, music, movies, inventions, fads, crafts and hobbies associated with the decade. Field trips will tie in with the weekly theme. At the end of the camp, students will make a time capsule and bury it in the center's yard.

Cost: $90 per week with a one-time $30 activity fee, and $35 registration fee for new enrollees.

Location: Feltner 4-H Camp in London. Activities include swimming, boating, canoeing, riflery, archery, crafts, fishing, cooking and sports.
