Dollhouse Museum hosts holiday party

Theater professionals Patrick Kagan-Moore and Will Johnston, and local actor Sean Cook will host an evening of funny, suspenseful and heartwarming family holiday stories at The Great American Dollhouse Museum.

The party is 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday. Storytelling starts at 7:30 p.m.

The museum will be decked out for the holidays, including a special exhibit titled “Christmas 1959,” featuring a row of six lavishly decorated retro shops. Another special display includes Santas through the ages, and a display of Victorian toys shows what might have been found under the tree in 1890.

Holiday appetizers and fresh-baked dessert treats will be available.

Advance ticket purchase recommended, as storytelling seating is limited to 60. The cost is $ 9 for adults; $7 for students and children. Reservations are available by calling (859) 583-8000; or drop in during regular museum hours, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, 344 Swope Drive.

Arts center accepting toys

The community arts center on Main Street will be accepting toys for the Danvile Fire Department’s Christmas toy drive from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 12. Toys should not be gift-wrapped. Cash donations to the toy drive will also be accepted.

Pool topic of forum

LANCASTER — There will be a public forum for questions about the plan for an aquatic center in Lancaster at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Garrard County courthouse.

Republicans plan gathering

The Boyle County Republican Party will celebrate Christmas at 5:30 p.m. Friday at its newly-opened headquarters at 209 W. Main St. The celebration is before the annual Christmas parade in downtown Danville.

Garrard’s library sets schedule

LANCASTER — The Garrard County Public Library has several events scheduled for this week, including:

* Guitar Hero Tournament for ages 12-18 Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

* Glory Bees Quilt Club, Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.

* Young Adult Book Club, Wednesday, 3:30 p.m., to discuss “The Tenderness of Wolves” by Stef Penney.

* story hour on Wednesday from 9:15-9:45 a.m. for ages 2-3; from 10-10:45 a.m. for ages 4-5; and from 11-11:30 a.m. for ages 18 months to 5 years.

Lancaster Higher Education, EKU and BCTC representatives will be at the library on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon to answer questions about admissions, testing, scholarships and financial assistance.
