Stella Rakes
1947-2016

Stella Louise Rakes, 69, of Danville, died Monday, May 2, 2016. Born April 8, 1947 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ada Hornsby Rakes. Stella loved taking care of her family, her home and her flowers. In addition to her parents Stella was preceded in death by a son, Garret Patterson and a nephew, Roderick Shelton, II.

Stella is survived by two daughters, Susan Lovitt of Danville and Trisha Patterson of Harrodsburg; a son, James Patterson of Danville; brother, Michael Rakes of Junction City; four sisters, Barbara Rodriguez of Lees Summit, Mo., Brenda (Woody) Stickrod of Lexington, Frances Shelton of Danville, and Regina (Bill) Scheifers of Moreland; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City, with Rev. Ernest Fields, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Pallbearers will be Steven Hall, Brian Brombach, Aaron Carney, Lamar Yocum, Chase Hoskins and Rick Dykes. An online guestbook is available at http://ift.tt/2bP54DA.
