Dear Editor,

I am deeply concerned by the accusations of abuse of power being made against Matt Bevin. This is not a partisan issue as some would have you believe. It is an issue that speaks directly to the fundamental principle that our government derives its power from the consent of the governed — the people.

Matt Bevin attempted to steal the House of Representatives. He threatened the use of his power as governor to punish House members if they didn’t switch parties, and there is evidence to suggest that he subsequently abused his power as governor to retaliate against at least one of these duly elected representatives, and the people of his district.

This resulted in the people of Kentucky paying a penalty of over $600,000 due to a delayed road project in Jessamine County. I believe that Kentucky taxpayers deserve an answer as to if these funds were intentionally misappropriated based on a political vendetta.

It appears that Matt Bevin believes that he is a dictator. I call for a full investigation of this incident; and if indeed these allegations against the governor are true, then it is our duty to remove from power any person who abuses that which we have so graciously bestowed upon them — the privilege of leadership.
