Kentucky State Police are now looking for a missing Boyle County teen after she failed to return home Thursday night following the death of her stepmother.

Jenna Oakley, 15, of Danville has been entered as a missing juvenile and may be traveling in her stepmother’s 2014 white Honda Civic with a Kentucky “Breast Cancer Awareness” license plate and plate number 2113-BT, according to KSP.

The girl’s stepmother, Rhonda D. Oakley, 52, was found dead in her basement Thursday afternoon.

Boyle County Coroner Don Hamner said Rhonda Oakley “was found on the basement floor when her son got home from school.”

“It does appear to be a homicide. That’s all I can tell you at the moment. State police are investigating,” Hamner said at the scene Thursday evening. “… There’s no evidence that it was a self-inflicted wound.”

Hamner did not specify what kinds of wounds Rhonda Oakley suffered. A cause of death has not been released.

Trooper Robery Purdy with Kentucky State Police said details concerning the death are not being released yet “due to the sensitive nature of this investigation.”

“There’s a lot of information we’re trying to figure out as this investigation continues,” Purdy said.

Purdy said there have been no arrests and no suspects named in Rhonda Oakley’s death.

“One of our biggest concerns right now is finding her stepdaughter and making sure she is OK,” he said.

Purdy said Jenna Oakley “could be anywhere” and the search for her is currently “nationwide.”

Investigators initially asked for help in locating Rhonda Oakley’s vehicle, which was not at the home on Old U.S. 127 in Junction City. On Friday, they issued information about the missing teen as well.

Jenna Oakley is approximately 5-foot-4 and weighs about 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, according to state police. She was last seen wearing black-framed glasses.

Jenna Oakley was last seen at Boyle County High School, where she is a student, on Wednesday afternoon, according to state police.
