First responders service

The 15th anniversary of the attack on the Twin Towers is Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016. Our hearts have been touched by the efforts of the hundreds of first responders who gave their lives and risked their lives to rescue survivors.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, Third Street Methodist Church will have a service to honor our first responders here in Danville and Boyle County with a “Garden Service” at 11 a.m. in the outdoor garden next to the church (corner of Third and Walnut Streets). As a church we remember to pray for them all in every Sunday morning.

We will honor the Danville Fire Dept., Danville Police Dept., Boyle County Emergency Medical Services, City of Danville 911 Center, Boyle County Fire Dept. and the Boyle County Sheriff’s Dept. We want them to know how much we respect them and honor them as our first responders here in Danville and Boyle County.

Heroes’ service

Danville First Church of God will have an “Honor Our Heroes” service at 10:45 a.m. this Sunday during the worship service. Immediately following the service there will be a cookout and fellowship meal in the pavilion. All of our community’s first responders and their families are invited to attend. The public is also welcome. The church is located at 3220 Harrodsburg Road, Danville. Kevin Cummins is pastor.

Homecoming service

GRAVEL SWITCH — Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is having a homecoming service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. Smith and Company, a southern gospel group from Georgetown, Indiana, will be singing during the worship service. There will be a fellowship dinner following the service. The church is located at 1515 Ky. 243 (Logan Road), Gravel Switch. The pastor is Jami Hamilton.

Church anniversary

New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church, located at 229 Fox Run Trail, Danville, will be celebrating its 9th church anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 11. The preacher for  the 11 a.m. service will be Robert Gates. The preacher and guests for the 4 p.m. service will be elder Chris Wright and members of Historic Pilgrim Baptist Church, Midway. Dinner will be served after morning service.

Special service

New Beginnings Community Church, 8876 Perryville Road (located on U.S. 150 between Springfield and Perryville) invites the public to “Glory In The Temple” services at 7 p.m. today and Saturday. On  Friday, Sept. 9, Crew 3:30 will bring worship with Bro. Billy Adams ministering and on Saturday, Sept. 10 Adrian Campbell will bring worship with Bro. Garry Mitchell ministering. 

Southern Heirs to sing

Mt. Salem Baptist Church will have a singing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 featuring Southern Heirs. The church is located on Ky. 198 between McKinney and Middleburg. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Revival services

Deep Creek Baptist Church is having a revival Sept. 11-14. The speaker will be Bro. Keith Weldon. Special singing will be each night. Sunday and Monday nights Made New will be singing and Tuesday night Christina Walton will sing. Sidewalk prayers in Perryville

PERRYVILLE — A community sidewalk prayer will begin at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 14 and 21 in front of Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville. The group will be praying for police officers, community, local, state and federal leaders, schools, military and the upcoming election.

Annual homecoming service

STANFORD — Blue Lick Baptish Church in Stanford, is having its annual homecoming service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 Guest speaker will be pastor Bud Stidum. Lunch will be served following the worship service.

Discipleship classes

 First Baptist Church, 1570 North Danville Bypass, is offering adult discipleship classes this fall at 5 p.m. each Sunday. The list of classes includes:

• Heaven: A Place of Joy — led by Bill Sivers to help believers find that joy by transforming their perspective on their heavenly home and helping them find victory in their Christian walk.

• Share Jesus Without Fear — led by Cathy Lester. This study presents a simple and relational approach to witnessing that teaches you cannot fail in sharing your faith if you depend on the power of God.

• How Do You Walk the Walk You Talk — led by Carolyn Underwood, this study of vital passages from Ephesians highlights how Christians can live out God’s priorities of unity,

authority, holiness, forgiveness, and unconditional love.

 • Conversation Peace: The Power of Transformed Speech — led by our pastor/master teacher Dr. Tim Mathis (begins September 25). Learn biblical principles to revolutionize your speech and improve your relationships as you allow God’s Word to change you from the inside out.
