Chaplin River Jam comes to Perryville

PERRYVILLE — Main Street Perryville will present Chaplin River Jam 6-10 p.m. on Sept. 17 and Oct. 8 at Baril Park in Perryville. The event includes live music and guests are invited to bring lawnchairs. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit Main Street Perryville. 

Ephraim McDowell Health sponsoring free health screenings on September 22

 Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring free health screenings on Thursday, Sept. 22 at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville. The screenings will be offered from 4:30-6 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, call (859) 236-2581.

 Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index and stroke-risk scorecard. After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.

 Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel. This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose. 

 The screenings are open to the public for anyone 18 years of age and older.
