The library offers a monthly book club for tweens (ages 9-13). On Monday, the group will discuss “The League of Beastly Dreadfuls” by Holly Grant and participate themed activities. Snacks will be available. Any tweens interested in attending may register for the program by signing up in the Children’s Library.

Travels in the Holy Land

The Friends of the Library begin their 2016 Fall Program Series 7 p.m. Monday with “Travels in the Holy Land.” Neil and Ginny Eklund will share stories about their travel experiences and photographs of the sites they visited while on a group tour to Israel. This program will be held in the Community Room.

Friends of the Library events are free and open to the public. An interpreter for the deaf is available upon request by contacting the library 48-hours in advance.

Third Thursday Book Discussion Group

The library offers a variety of book discussion groups each month, including the Third Thursday Book Discussion Group, which meets 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month.

This group is designed for anyone interested in discussing a wide variety of books in a group setting.

On Thursday, the group will discuss “In the Unlikely Event” by Judy Blume. Those interested in participating may pick up a copy of the book at the circulation desk.

Next week: Baby Lapsit returns

The library will offer a six-week Baby Lapsit program starting 10:30 a.m. Monday. Led by Libby McWhorter, Baby Lapsit focuses on early literacy skills and is designed for infants up to 12 months and their caregivers. During the program, babies sit on their caregivers’ laps and interact with them while enjoying rhyming songs, finger plays and short stories designed with babies in mind.

The Baby Lapsit program will meet 10:30 a.m. Mondays in the Children’s Storytime Room, and run through Oct. 24.
