Coleen Carrier

1928-2016

Coleen Carrier, 87, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 68 years, Billy.

Coleen was born on Oct. 13, 1928 in Garrard County to the late Shannon and Evaree Snyder Adkison.

Coleen retired from Christian Appalachian Project as a manager of the Attic Store. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Family meant the most to Coleen. She was a member of Hyattsville Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Billy Carrier (Rita) of Florida, Jerry Carrier (Debbie) of Lancaster, and Curt Carrier (Jeanne) of Lancaster; a sister, Jane May (Dwight) of Lancaster; eight grandchildren Jennifer Taliaferro (Mike), Brandy Adams (Robert), Sara Horn (Patrick), Brad Carrier (Nikki), Matt Carrier (Brandi Padgett), Nathan Carrier (Betsy), Adam Carrier (Amanda), and Brandon Cooper (Kelly); 10 great-grandchildren, Justin Adams, Caden Adams, Hailey Carrier, Chandler Carrier, Conner Carrier, Ashton Carrier, Aiden Carrier, Braxton Carrier, Austin Copper, Ethan Cooper, Reed Horn, Luke Horn and Hallie Carrier.

Coleen was preceded in death by a son, Woodie Carrier.

Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Durham officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Matt Carrier, Adam Carrier, Nathan Carrier, Brad Carrier, Robert Adams, Patrick Horn, Brandon Cooper and Mike Taliaferro. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandy Adams, Jennifer Taliaferro, Sara Horn, Dwight May, Bobby Carrier, Tom Scott, David Feldman, Harold Feldman and Johnny Snyder.
