Local businesses a “centerpiece” of Harvest & Heritage Festival

At the heart of Heart of Danville’s new event, the Harvest & Heritage Festival, will be a community table running down Main St. and decorated by local businesses and organizations. On Saturday, September 24th, the public is invited to come out and not only enjoy the festivities, but to help the Heart of Danville select the best arrangement via vote.
The Harvest & Heritage Festival seeks to place a focus on local fare including food, music and drinks,” said Heart of Danville Executive Director Bethany Rogers. “The centerpiece contest is another opportunity to showcase and get a feel for our local flavor.”
Danville’s Main Street community has a wide array of businesses and the diversity of participants reflect that, from a hotel to a funeral home to financial investors. The Heart of Danville asked downtown businesses & organizations and members of the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce to create a centerpiece that will be on display at the event. Participants were only given a few rules to follow: size, height and material restriction. The rest is up to the creator’s imagination.
It’s actually going to be really interesting and fun to see how some of our community businesses and organizations will choose to express themselves through the centerpiece competition,” said Rogers.
Ballots for the competition will be available on the tables and at the Heart of Danville booth at the event. The winners will receive a free 2017 membership to the Heart of Danville.
It’s also a really creative fundraiser for the Heart since all the centerpieces will be for sale at the end of the night.  Festival goers will be able to take a little bit of Danville heritage and beauty home with them,” added Rogers.

The centerpieces will sell for either $15 or $20 depending on size and material used.
