Dear Editor,

Not everyone is aware that we have a food pantry in Danville to help those who are having difficulty getting enough groceries, and we need help.

Many of you may never give a thought to whether or not you have enough food, because it’s never been a problem for you. But there are many others in Boyle County who have fallen on hard times, whether through loss of a job, sickness, or other hardship. These people, for the most part, do not want to get handouts. They really would prefer to earn their own way. But sometimes circumstances force us to do the hard thing, and let others help us. 

That is where anyone, anybody out there, can help the less fortunate by giving a donation to the New Hope Food Pantry.

It is a 501(c)(3) organization, so your gift would be entirely tax deductible.

Located on Fryes Lane, across from the Salvation Army Thrift Store, New Hope Food Pantry is run entirely by volunteers and depends on donations, as it has to buy most of the food it gives out.

There are a few dedicated volunteers who come to serve faithfully every week, some just a few hours, some more. But we are in need of more volunteers to come in and lighten the load. 

We are open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday. If you could commit to coming in one day a week for an hour or two or three, that would be a great help.  We hope this letter will result in us getting some helpers to help us to help others who need help getting food. So if you can give an hour or two a week, great! If you can give a check to help with expenses, great!
