The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care 6 p.m.  Mondays and Open Chess 4 p.m. Thursdays. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

Teddy Bear Sleepover

The library will be having a Teddy Bear Sleepover 4 p.m. Monday. Children are invited to bring a stuffed animal and wear their pajamas to this special “bedtime storytime” where the animals get to spend the night at the library. Children will make a picture frame craft, and then leave their animals overnight at the library. On the following day when picking up their fuzzy friend, the children will receive a photo of their friend’s overnight adventure. Parents are encouraged not to bring any stuffed animals that will be missed at bedtime.

Tween Advisory Group (TAG)

Tween Advisory Group will meet 5-7 p.m. Monday. TAG provides a way for tweens (ages 9-13) to have fun while volunteering their time at the library. This month TAG will have a pizza party and help out with the Teddy Bear Sleepover. For more information about tween programs, see Kate Prusick in the Children’s Library.

Mocktails and Masks

The Library will host Mocktails and Masks on 5 p.m. Monday, Sept.26 in the Mahan House. Come try some Autumn Mocktails (autumn-themed drinks without alcohol) while making masks to be hung in the Mahan Gallery during October. All materials will be provided. Participants will be able to claim their masks in time for Halloween. While this event is appropriate for all ages, it is geared for teens and adults.

Fall Film Series: Campaigns, Politics & Presidents (Week 1)

The Friends of the Library will begin their annual Fall Film Series 7 p.m. Thursday. Films will be shown on Thursday evenings in the Community Room at the library. The post-film discussion will be led by Charles Vahlkamp. Popcorn will be available and there is no charge for admission. In this week’s film from 1948, an honest businessman fears losing his integrity if he allows himself to be drafted to run for the presidency.

Tween Homeschool Book Club

The Tween Homeschool Book Club meets 2 p.m. on the last Friday of the month. The next club meeting will be Sept. 30. This month, participants will discuss “Half a Chance” by Cynthia Lord. Those interested in attending may register in the Children’s Library. For ages 9-13.
