Earl Shaw, 89, of Lancaster, passed away, Friday, Sept. 23, 2016. Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Hazel.

He was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky to the late Robert and Pearl Wilson Shaw. He was principal at CDR and served as the superintendent in Garrard County School System and chairman of the board for several years.
Earl served in the U.S. Army during the ending of World War II. Earl was promoted to full colonel in 1975. In 1978, he was assigned as commander of the 2085 Army Reserve Unit in Lexington until he was discharged in 1982.Flag
Earl was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had served as Sunday school superintendent and an elder. Earl loved God, family, his country, and many friends. He was a UK Wildcat fan and an avid reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Shaw; sister-in-law Frieda Shaw; and four sisters, Ocie Ball, Hazel Adams, Maggie Fleming, and Geneva La Bonte.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Denny, Rev. David McPherson, and Rev. Richard Chamberlin officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016.
