Two injured after motorcycle strikes dog in Casey County

LIBERTY – Two people were injured Sunday when a Nicholasville motorcyclist struck a dog in Casey County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Jason Peel, 39, of Nicholasville was operating a 1986 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Ky. 70 when he struck a dog that ran into the roadway, causing him to lose control and the motorcycle to overturn, according to Trooper Marvin Blakey, who is investigating the collision.

The wreck occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday about four miles east of Liberty.

Peel was not wearing a helmet and was transported to the Casey County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to KSP.

A passenger, Rebecca Peel, 43, of Stanton, was not wearing a helmet and was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Blakey was assisted at the scene by the Liberty Police Department, Brush Creek Fire Department and Casey County Sheriff’s Office.
