Public invited to garden club event

The public is invited to a featured program at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at the Danville Country Club, when the Garden Club of Danville hosts the Bluegrass District meeting of Central Kentucky Garden Clubs.

Linda Hawkins will discuss her award-winning book “The Unspoken Language of Fans and Flowers.” A life-long love of flowers inspired her to research this old fashioned means of communication, when sentiments were expressed by the position of a lady’s fan or the use, color, or arrangement of flowers.

In her book, Hawkins also shares floral-inspired recipes and a guide to edible flowers. Copies of the book and others she has written will be available by special order.

Vendors will be selling plants and garden-related gifts. Public admission is $10; reservations are not required. For additional information, email garden.club.dky@gmail.org.
