John L. Bailey

1940-2016

John L. Bailey, 76, of Perryville, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016. Born June 18, 1940, in Vermont, he was the son of Clarence Edwin and Mildred Sarah MacNeil Bailey.

He was a pastor and member of Grace Community International. He was a Christian and loved his family and the Lord. He loved helping people and did a lot of volunteer work. He was a Chicago Bears fan and loved to talk and tell jokes. He treated his grandchildren like they were his own. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Darlene Bailey of Perryville; two sons, Brian (Tammy) Bailey of Crab Orchard, and Scott (Danielle) Bailey of Danville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Beth Jeffers will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville.
