Free health screenings Oct. 22

Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free health screening from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 22 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Danville. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended. Appointments can be made by calling one of the following numbers after 5 p.m.: (859) 236-6964 or (859) 583-2545.

Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, heart rate, body mass index, heart risk scorecard, stress, depression, sleep disorder and flu shots. After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.

Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel.  This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose.

The screenings are open to the public for anyone 18 years of age and older.

Meeting

Perryville City Council — 7 p.m. Oct. 20, a special-called meeting will be held to discuss the pending alcohol ordinance.

AARP to meet

LANCASTER — There will be an AARP meeting 7:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Lancaster Grand Theater. This meeting will be for the public to learn what can be done to protect the aging population and to have the opportunity to see this meticulously restored theater.
