The public is invited to attend three candidate forums hosted by the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Bluegrass Community Bank. These forums help educate voters on the issues and where each candidate stands on them.

The first forum will take place 7 p.m. Oct. 20 and will feature candidates for city council in Junction City. The forum will be held in The Church performance venue, 195 Grafton St., Junction City.

Candidates are Kenny Baldwin, Lloyd Bowling, Hershel Fletcher, Pete Kendrick, Sonya Kitchen, Steve Martin and Bill McCowan. There are six seats on the council.

On Thursday, Oct. 27, the Chamber will host a second forum for candidates seeking a Danville City Commission seat. It will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held at InterCounty Energy Cooperative’s community room, 1009 Hustonville Road, Danville.

Candidates are James “J.H.” Atkins, Kevin Caudill, James Monroe, Rick Serres and Denise Terry. There are four seats on the commission

The final candidate forum will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 1 and will feature candidates for Perryville City Council. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Perryville Community Center, 216 S. Buell Street, Perryville.

Candidates are Steve Bailey, Brian Caldwell, Julie Clay, Jerry Houck, Ryan Norvell, JoAnne Reynolds, Tim Simpson and Paul Webb. There are six seats on the council.

The event is co-hosted by Main Street Perryville.

All three forums will be moderated by John Nelson, retired editor of The Advocate-Messenger. Hometown Radio, WHIR 1230 AM, will broadcast all three forums live. These will also be recorded for replay on Hometown Radio’s podcast page at hometownlive.net.

The Chamber of Commerce offered a fourth forum for candidates for the House District 54 state representative seat representing Boyle and Casey counties. Bill Noelker agreed to participate but incumbent Daniel Elliott declined.

All three events are free and open to the public.
