STANFORD — It’s been almost a month since a 22-year-old woman was found dead in Lincoln County but as of this week, officials still have not released a cause of death. 

Desiree Sparks’ body was found unclothed in the grass at the end of West Skyline Drive by a group riding fourwheelers on Oct. 1. 

Sparks had been reported missing from Danville and was last seen on Sept. 27 leaving the area of Citation Drive, supposedly in the company of an unknown male subject driving a dark-colored SUV. 

Following an autopsy by the Frankfort State Medical Examiner, Sparks was identified as the 22-year-old woman found in Lincoln County. 

Lincoln County Deputy Coroner Tony Floro said there were no new details about Sparks’ death to release as of Monday. 

“We don’t have anything new right now,” Floro said. “It is under investigation.” 

Following Sparks’ death, Kentucky State Police Post 7, which is overseeing the investigation,   requested help from the public to track down video surveillance in areas across Boyle and Lincoln County. 

Police requested video footage from Sept. 27 near Citation Drive, U.S. 127 South to West Shelby Street in Junction City and West Shelby Street to White Oak Road in Junction City. 

Also requested was video surveillance from Sept. 27 through Oct. 1 in Lincoln County on Ky. 698 between U.S. 27 and McKinney. 

Trooper Robert Purdy said Monday he wasn’t sure if anything had come of the video surveillance requests but police are still actively seeking information and leads in the case. 

“There haven’t been any arrests or anything,” Purdy said. “We’re still looking for leads.”
