Vicki Nelson Ness 

1949-2016

Vicki Nelson Ness, 67 of Danville died Nov. 1, 2016, with her husband by her side. Born April 11, 1949 in St. Paul, Minnesota, she is the daughter of Kenn (Aase) Nelson and the late Joyce Swanson Nelson.

Vicki is a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, consummate volunteer including her entire family in giving to her church and community. She was a mother to 180 foster children over 20 years, opening her home and her heart was her true passion. Vicki was predeceased by her mother and a brother Kevin Nelson. 

Along with her father she is survived by her husband of 42 years Jerry Ness of Danville, her children Jonathan (Rebecca) Ness of Williams, Arizona, Devon (Stephen) Swanson of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Andrew (Denise Rivera) Ness of St. Paul, Minnesota, Cory Ness of Pine City, Minnesota, Jeffrey Ness of Jamestown, Kentucky, Rachel Ness, Lilly-Grace Ness, Celina-Joy Ness, and Brandon Ness all of Danville, Tanya (Byron) Ulrich and Teresa Carroll of Colorado, Sara Magnuson of Perth, Australia, and Savanna (Timothy) Tardiff of Pueblo West, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; Elizabeth, Owen, Amaya, Piper, Joslynne, Jay, Matthew, Zachary, Micah, Marcus, and Samuel; three great grandchildren Madilyn, Matthew, and Maci, three sisters Melody (Mark) Nelson of Colorado, Tara Nelson of Woodbury, Minnesota, and Lisa (Steve) Benson of Lancaster, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews, and special friends Phil and Sharon Cossentine, Audra and Amanda, and Maureen Schuck.

A celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 8 at Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shane Terrell officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations are suggested to Markey Cancer Center.
