Bro. Bobby Brooks

1934-2016

Bro. Bobby Brooks, 82, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at Veteran’s Hospital in Lexington. He was born on March 21, 1934, to the late Arthur and Anna Whalen Brooks.

Bro. Brooks is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Nichols Brooks.

Sunday was a fitting day for Bro. Brooks to be united with his Savior since he spent his life faithfully sharing the Gospel and serving Christ.

Bobby Brooks

Bro. Brooks was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky. He served in the Air Force from 1955-1958. After leaving the Air Force, Bro. Brooks surrendered to preach while working at IBM. Bro. Brooks graduated from Clear Creek Baptist College in 1965 and pastored churches in Virginia and Kentucky from 1964 through 2005.

In addition to his wife, Bro. Brooks is survived by his two daughters, Naomi Kay Duggins (Mike) of Lancaster and Bobbie “Ruth” Walker (John) of Nicholasville; five grandchildren, Chris Duggins (Lori) of Lancaster, Alicia Foster (Justin) of Lancaster, Brooke, Jonathan, and Katie Walker, all of Nicholasville; three great-grandchildren, Keegan Foster, Adeline and Brooklyn Duggins; two brothers, James Brooks (Margaret) of Cynthiana and Joe Brooks (Brenda) of Paris; two sisters, Donna Fae Rawlings (Bill) of Cynthiana and Patricia Mastin of Cynthiana.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Ann Smith.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Forks of Dix River Baptist Church with Bro. Cole Caven officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Duggins, Chris Duggins, John Walker, Jonathan Walker, Justin Foster, Jim Edgington, and Danny Brewer.
