Area Veterans Day Events

Boyle County High School — Veteran’s Day Assembly that is 100 percent student led and organized will be at 8:05 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 in the gym and will last an hour. Former Danville mayor Bernie Hunstad has been invited to speak, and two seniors who have joined the military will be honored.

Toliver Elementary School — A Veteran’s Day Breakfast will be 7:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. There will be a special presentation beginning about 7:50 a.m. in the gym, complete with a musical performance to honor our veterans.

Hogsett Elementary School — A Veteran’s Day Breakfast beginning at 7:35 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Hogsett Cafeteria.

Junction City Elementary School — A Veteran’s Day Celebration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. There will be several veteran speakers.

National Guard Armory — Heritage Hospice with Boyle, Mercer, Lincoln and Garrard counties will host a special Veterans Day event at the National Guard Armory in Danville along Stanford Road from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 11. There will be BBQ, fish fry and door prizes.

Camp Nelson National Cemetery — A Veterans Day ceremony will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery flag pole. This will be a Veterans Day program to remember and honor all military members who have served or are currently serving our nation. The keynote speaker will be Juan R. Jackson, Southeast District Veterans Experience Team, Relationship Manager for Kentucky.

McDowell Place of Danville — A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., Nov. 11, at McDowell Place of Danville, 1181 Ben Ali Dr., Danville. Rev. Bruce Chute, pastor of Third Street Methodist Church, will be the speaker. The event will include patriotic music from the Rainbow Bells Choir.

Central Kentucky Tours — CKT would like to honor our active military and veterans on Veteran’s Day by offering a special bourbon distillery tour. On Nov. 11, each paying guest may bring an active member of the military or a veteran along for a free tour. The tour will start at Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg and will include stops at Limestone Branch Distillery, Makers Mark Distillery, Wilderness Trail Distillery and Kentucky Cooperage where you can watch bourbon barrels being made.

Upon returning to Harrodsburg at the end of the day, Beaumont Inn is offering a free meal (alcohol excluded) in The Old Owl Tavern for the active military or veteran with the purchase of a meal by their paying guest. For more details call (859) 492-3413
