Shoplifting Seminar 

The Danville Police Department will be hosting a free training seminar on Nov. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Danville Police Department on 445 W. Main Street for area businesses regarding shoplifting incidents. The training will cover the following; how to safe guard against and recognize a shoplifting in progress, how to appropriately report the incident to police, how to be a good witness, along with civil liabilities.

The training is free for all those who attend, and lunch will be provided.

First Responder Thank You Dinner 

ASAP and Hope Network are hosting a First Responder “Thank You” dinner on Nov. 15, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at The Showroom. 

Food donations are still needed for the dinner. If you would like to volunteer to bring a dish, here is what is still needed: finger food desserts (to serve 15 to 20) and cranberry relish or salad or sauce (to serve 15 to 20). 

ASAP is also accepting donations to pay for the turkeys, as they are are planning to serve up to 300 people.

ASAP is also looking for volunteers to come at any time during the dinner and help serve or deliver food.

Food donations should be dropped off at The Showroom by 4 p.m. the day of the dinner. Food cannot be cooked at The Showroom. 

Luallen to speak

Crit Luallen, former Kentucky Lieutenant Governor and Kentucky State Auditor, will speak on “Securing Kentucky’s Future” from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 in the Community Room of the Boyle County Public Library, 307 West Broadway. Luallen’s post-election talk will describe what the Democratic Party needs to do going forward. The event is sponsored by the Danville/Boyle County Branch of The Women’s Network, which advocates democratic principles and policies to build a stronger Kentucky. 

Meetings

Housing Authority of Danville — 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the central office, 1014 Rosemont Ave. Items on the agenda includes: disposition of property; approving health insurance plan change; approving revised lease agreement; and approving travel for the board. There will also be brief presentations by non-profits utilizing HUD office space including Andrea Lewis of GreenHouse 17; Elaine Wilson-Reddy with The Gladys Project; and Evie Smith with KyADAPT.

Architectural Heritage Board — 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Danville City Hall conference room. Items on the agenda include: Certificate of appropriateness for:
