Danville applies for body armor grant

The Danville Police Department is applying for a grant from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Office of Homeland Security Law Enforcement Protection Program to help fund 17 new body armor vests for $11,305.
Danville Police Chief Tony Gray said this is a grant that the police department applies for every five years when it is required to update their body armor vests.
He said the vests cost $780 a piece, which brings the total to about $13,000 for all 17 vests.
The Danville City Commission approved on Monday that if the grant os $11,305 is awarded, the city will pay $1,938 for the vests.
