Horsemen to host Black Friday trail ride 
PERRYVILLE — Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen (FHBCH) invites horse enthusiasts to forego shopping on Black Friday, Nov. 25, and join the group for a charitable trail ride at Camp Horsin’ Around, 1159 Claunch Road, Perryville. The cost is $10 per horse, with all proceeds benefitting the camp. A negative coggins is required for each horse. The first ride will head out at 12:30 p.m. A potluck meal will follow the ride and participants are asked to bring their favorite dishes, table service, drinks and chairs.
“Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen welcomes this opportunity to conduct a fundraising trail ride for Camp Horsin’ Around,” said Emily Dennis, FHBCH president. “It’s also a great time to enjoy friends, horses and the beautiful Kentucky countryside.”
Camp Horsin’ Around provides an outdoor camp adventure for children whose health is compromised or who have special needs. The camp welcomes donations, with all contributions tax deductible. For more information, contact Lois Short at (859) 612-1624 or lshort9655@gmail.com.
Mercer Chamber offers special event Saturday
HARRODSBURG — Small Business Saturday is Nov. 26 this year and the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce is a Neighborhood Champion and official Small Business Saturday Coalition member.
The SBS kickoff will be10 a.m.-2 p.m.  at The Harrodsburg Herald/101 Business Solutions on Broadway Street.  Drawings will be held for prizes, as well as other give-aways.
Thanksgiving closings
The following Boyle County offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25: Boyle County Courthouse, the animal shelter, and all convenience centers and recycling center.
Morning Pointe collecting stocking stuffers
Morning Pointe of Danville is inviting the community to bring stocking stuffers for boys during its 21 Days of Stocking Stuffers event for the benefit of Sunrise Children’s Home.
Donations can be made through Dec. 14, at the senior living and memory care community, located at 1375 Perryville Road. For more information, call (859) 965-1008.
