Hanging of the greens service
Lexington Avenue Baptist Church will be having its annual Hanging of the Greens service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 and will feature concert organist Albin Whitworth.
Burn ban lifted in Boyle
The no outside burn order for Boyle County has been lifted, according to Boyle County Judge Executive, Harold W. McKinney. The ban order was issued Nov. 18 and lifted Nov. 23
Gift shop now open in Garrard arts center
LANCASTER — Inside Garrard Community Arts Center, at 117 Richmond St. in Lancaster, is the new Gift Gallery. The gallery is filled with an eclectic mix of artwork, jewelry, pottery and fabric art. Paintings on sale include those by BG Lewis, Shari Bivelacque and Mary Kuster; pottery pieces are inclued by Buddy Dobbins; and quilted table runners by Paula Eads are also for sale. Shoppers will find jewelry by Geri Trinler, Shari Bivelacque and Everett McIntosh.
For the holiday season, the gallery features handmade ornaments and unique, one-of-a-kind items. The Gift Gallery is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. Saturday and after-hours shopping available by appointment — call (859) 948-6988.
Shoe Sensation collecting socks for troops
Shoe Sensation, a regional chain of name brand family shoe stores, is sponsoring Socks For Troops company wide now through Dec. 24. Each store will be collecting socks for active duty military or local veterans in or around the community. Shoe Sensation will have military approved socks in store and customers will be able to receive 20 percent off the socks donated. Customers will also be able to bring in new socks to be donated.
“Socks are something we take for granted as most of us have nice clean socks every day to put on. The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s important for us to think about the thousands of U.S. military men and women deployed overseas in harsh, war ravaged places, and most likely spending the holidays away from their family. I am honored to be part of a company that gives back to the community,” Said Kelli Gill, Area Director and second time participant of Socks for Troops.
