Turtle Derby funds used on Parks Store

Dear Editor,

While we appreciate the praise for the work of Main Street Perryville and John and Sylvia Hensley and many others in Perryville by the Reverend and Mrs. Ron Moroni’s letter to the editor on Sunday November 27, 2016, I need to clarify two facts.

Main Street Perryville did raise $7,300 in June with the Turtle Derby. The money is being used to restore Parks Store on Merchants Row with the help of John Hensley and Kevin Bottom, who are working with chairman Robby Mayes on the restoration project.

John and Sylvia Hensley purchased the Latimore Store building and have completely renovated the building at their own expense. They moved their business, Chaplin River Antiques to their building in August. The Hensleys’ business was in the Parks Store building.

There are many positive things happening in Perryville. We look forward to continuing the preservation work downtown.
