1955-2016

Rev. Lonnie Nelson Daugherty, 65, of Junction City, formerly of Richmond, the husband of Marilyn Payne Daugherty, passed away Saturday evening at his home.

Lonnie was born on July 21, 1955, in Madison County, the son of the late Nelson B. and Goldia Reynolds Daugherty.

He was a retired Church of God minister, having served churches throughout Kentucky and North Carolina. He was the founding pastor of The Lexington Road Church of God in Richmond, and retired as pastor of The Lexington Church of God in Lexington, North Carolina.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Marilyn, include three children, Jonathan Nelson Daugherty (Yvonne), Bradley Scott Daugherty (Britnie) and Shelby Daugherty Williams (Austin); two sisters, Nancy Neeley (Jack) and Sue Masters (Dwight); six grandchildren, Israel Bain Daugherty, Aliyah Rein Daugherty, Bailey Scott Daugherty, Brayden Ray Daugherty, Isaiah Kadesh Daugherty and Ezekiel Blake Ellerbe; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at The Danville Church of God, 516 S. Fourth Street, Danville, KY 40422 with Rev. Phillip Payne, Rev. Bryan Montgomery and Rev. Butch Payne officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens, 210 West Rice Lane, Richmond. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at The Danville Church of God.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Short, David Elliott, Bobby Thompson, Rick McCowan, Wesley Williams and Jim Tomerlin.

Honorary pallbearers are Rev. Sam Irvin and Rev. Dallas Johnson.

The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home of Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
