The Danville Board of Education approved a motion to send the district’s facility plan to the Kentucky Board of Education.

That’s contingent upon a change made to the district facilities plan hearing report, which will accompany the plan to the state board. The report initially stated that the Local Planning Committee voted 15-0 in favor of the proposed plan, sending it to the Danville Board of Education, who voted 5-0 in favor of the plan.

Board Member Kate Graves, who also served on the Local Planning Committee, asked that the document reflect an October vote to send the same plan to the Kentucky Department of Education. In that vote, Graves and one other committee member voted against the proposed plan.

The final plan being sent to the Kentucky Board of Education makes Hogsett Elementary a preschool through first-grade center; continues the existing plan to make Toliver Elementary a second- through fifth-grade center; and turns Jennie Rogers Elementary into the district central office and home of other special programs.

The committee identified a need of more than $34 million for the district.

The Kentucky Board of Education will review the plan at their meeting in February.
