Plans are in the works to open a new branch of Farmers National Bank near the former location of Reno’s Roadhouse, at the intersection of Hustonville Road and the Danville Bypass.

“With more than 137 years of service to the community, this will be another exciting chapter in our history. Farmers National Bank cares about those we serve and we are always looking for ways to improve the customer service,” said Sharon K. Howell, vice president, director of marketing for the bank in a statement provided to The Advocate-Messenger.

“This is an excellent opportunity for a new branch, as it is located in a prime location.”

Farmers filed an application with the Comptroller of the Currency on Dec. 8, seeking permission for the branch, according to a legal notice published by the bank. The application is currently in a 30-day public comment period, according to the notice.

Building is expected begin on the new facility in January. The building should open in the “second half of 2017,” Howell said.

When the new branch is completed, the location at 224 Southtown Dr. will relocate, she said.

“The new Farmers National Bank branch will allow us to better serve our customers, potential customers and community. We believe there is no better place for a branch in our area,” Howell’s statement reads.

The intersection was chosen largely because of the high traffic flow in the area.

The new 3,100-square foot facility will “provide customer service inside the branch and drive-up options.” The bank is currently working with a design firm that specializes in branch banking, the statement reads.

“We will continue to deliver friendly, personalized service, while also providing exciting technologies that our customers have told us would make for an even better banking experience,” the statement reads.
