John William Blanton

1940-2017

John William Blanton, 76, of Crab Orchard, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. John was born in Crab Orchard on June 22, 1940 to the late William J. and Mary Elizabeth (Saylor) Blanton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Watts Chapel Baptist Church.   

Survivors include his two sons, John Randall “Randy” Blanton and Richard Allen “Ricky” Blanton; a brother, Tommy Blanton; and two grandchildren, Trevor an Erica Blanton.

Pallbearers include James Reynolds, Mike Eldridge, Jerry Petrey and Lloyd Hensley.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dylan Riegel.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Pigg and Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial will be in the Coldiron Family Cemetery with Military Honors by the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post # 18 of Stanford.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at McKnight Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
