James Grey

1957-2017

James D. Grey “Jimmy” of Danville, passed away on Jan. 14, 2017 at the young age of 59 after a brief but courageous bout with cancer.

He was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy, who served in the Persian Gulf, as well as a staff sergeant in the Army National Guard. He was employed with MBA USA Inc. at the time of his passing.

In addition to being a beloved husband and father, his passions included cycling, reading, running and swimming. 

He was the son of Lurlene Grey, and the late Charles Grey and his wife, Martha Grey. He is survived by his loving wife Carolina Grey; daughter Annie (Jason); and sons, Jerole (Ashley), Jamal, Jamie, Jamel and Jawan; grandchildren, Damani (Sydney), Cameron, Jordan, Julianna, Jennifer, Kyron; great-granddaughter Stevie; god-daughter Kristy and god-sons Phillip, Ryan and Tyler; brothers and sisters, numerous relatives, friends, mother-in-law Tina Sabino, brothers- and sisters-in-law, along with extended family.

Services will be held at Stith Funeral Home, Jan. 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Father Norman Fischer of Lexington will preside at the burial. Memorial donations are suggested to the Markey Cancer Foundation. An online guestbook is available at www.stithfuneralhome.net.
