Edythe Calhoun

1913-2017

Edythe Mae Carter Calhoun, 103, of Texas, formerly of Garrard County, Kentucky, passed away Jan. 6, 2017, in Nacogdoches, Texas.

She was born Nov. 10, 1913, to the late Robert B. and Naomi Metcalf Carter. Edythe was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. David Luther Calhoun.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Robert Luther Calhoun (Linda) of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Johnetta Proctor (Cleo) of Colorado and Mary Vermeulen (Bill) of Texas; a brother, Robert Carter Jr. (Margaret) of Nicholasville, Ky; a sister, Pattie Miles Arvin of Lancaster, Ky; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Calhoun officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday. Burial in the Lancaster Cemetery.
