Consider supporting Danville Schools Education Foundation

Dear Editor,

Over a hundred years ago, a group of people in Danville and Boyle County created a new system of schools, the Danville Independent School District. They wanted more for their children; they wanted a different type of education system; they wanted excellence.

Much has changed since 1912, but that same desire for excellence is alive and well in the 2017 Danville Schools. Our staff continue to educate and inspire the youth of our community. They are committed to success for all through rigorous, diverse curriculum and instruction, while also focusing on building caring, compassionate citizens through skills found in the Danville Diploma.

With ever-increasing student needs, the Danville Schools Education Foundation Inc. (DSEF) was created in 2005 to provide a vehicle for individuals, corporations and other foundations to contribute tax-deductible donations to support students and education programs in the Danville Schools.

DSEF is governed by its own volunteer board of directors and works closely with district and school administrators to ensure funds are used to follow donors’ wishes and meet the needs of students. The mission of the DSEF is to provide additional funding, increase visibility and build a network of support to expand our areas of focus within the Danville Schools.

Areas of focus include expanding opportunities in arts and humanities, enhancing achievement through enrichment activities, linking technology to academic success and promoting lifelong learning through scholarships.

Please consider joining our efforts as a board member or donor. Contact us with questions or if you are interested in learning more about what we do for our students. We can be reached through Danville Schools, 152 E. M L King Blvd.; on the web at danvilleschoolsfoundation.org; and on Facebook.

We look forward to you joining us as we continue the work that began so many years ago. Thank you!

Jean Crowley
