Kentucky Senate bill would let teens carry concealed weapons without training

Dear Editor,

My gosh! A state senator is planning to sponsor SB7, which would let 18-year-olds and older carry concealed weapons without training and without background checks, because the Constitution does not require it.

I suppose our Constitution does not require a driver’s license, but I’m glad that’s established.

As a parent, I know my kids make better choices now than at 18. Young people enlist at 18, but have training and officers in their command. We’ll be less safe if this bill passes. Imagine police officers pulling up to a suspicious vehicle. Our police put their lives on the line every day and should not have to deal with this extra hazard. Most voice concern.

Contact your representative quickly if you believe this bill goes too far.
