Friday, the grapevine effect was in full motion when reports of multiple layoffs at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill had hit the streets.
Although only three to four employees were being named by unofficial sources, some said there were walk-outs after certain individuals were released. Shaker Village would not comment on nor confirm who was released, citing its personnel policy.
However, Amy Bugg, its marketing director, said, “No one walked out as a result of the leadership realignment.”
Shaker Village administration said yes, there has been a “realignment” — affecting only the leadership of multiple departments, and it is due to a requirement to shift the way the organization does business.
In a release, passed on by Bugg, Shaker Village administration said: “Reaching out to new and varied audiences, launching new initiatives and shifting the way Shaker Village does business has required great effort and a great deal of investment in new ideas, processes and collaborations. This week, Shaker Village announced a leadership realignment of several departments to support the Village’s goals and critical growth initiatives. These changes are critical to moving Shaker Village forward and building a strong framework to support its goals and connect its work to Shaker Village’s mission.”
