The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care 6 p.m. Mondays, Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and Coding Clubs 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. In addition to these weekly events, the following library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

• Around the World with the 2M2 Book Club

The library offers many book discussion groups each month, including the Reading Around the World: 2nd-Monday-at-2 Book Club (2M2), which meets 2 p.m. the second Monday of the month in the Mahan House at the library. Selections include fiction and historical fiction books set in locations around the world.

On Monday, Feb. 13,  the group will discuss “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry” by Gabrielle Zevin. Those interested in participating may register at the circulation desk.

• Teens Write Tuesday

The library hosts a variety of events for teens (ages 13-18), including a monthly group for teens who love to write. Each month participants can bring a past original work to share or they can participate in the monthly writing prompt.  Teens Write Tuesday meets 4 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 14 in the Conference Room.

• Third Thursday Book Discussion Groups

The library offers a variety of book discussion groups each month, including the Third Thursday Morning and Evening Book Discussion Groups which meet on the third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. respectively. These groups are designed for anyone interested in discussing a wide variety of books in a group setting.

Both groups will meet on Thursday, Feb.16. The Morning Discussion group, which is led by Diana Draper, will discuss “The Good Earth” by Pearl Buck. The Evening Discussion group is led by Merry Cooper and will discuss “Lone Wolf” by Jodi Picoult. Those interested in participating in either group may pick up a copy of the book at the Circulation Desk.

• Candy Sushi for Tweens

At 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16,  tweens (ages 9-13) are invited to re-create classic dishes using candy to make a treat that looks like sushi but tastes like dessert. Registration is required. This event will be held in the Storytime Room.

• Teen Movie Night

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, the library will host a Teen Movie Night. Teens (ages 13-18) are invited to watch a movie based on the hit young adult novel by Ransom Riggs that tells the story of a magical home for unusual children who have special powers and abilities. The movie will be shown in the Mahan Gallery on the library’s main level. Registration is required. Pizza will be served. (PG-13; 127 minutes) Call the library to register.
