Garden Club

Cancer Center- Feb. -17

Elizabeth Leahey, left, and Pat Boatwright of the Garden Club of Danville display one of the grapevine wreaths decorated for Valentine’s Day at a meeting of the Cancer Support Group at the Commonwealth Cancer Center. The Garden Club’s Garden Therapy Committee meets four times a year with the Support Group to make garden related crafts. Garden Club volunteers, some of whom have been touched by cancer themselves, eat dinner with the Support Group and share stories as they get acquainted, giving the participants a distraction from their health or grief. This is one of the Garden Club’s activities and projects supported by profits from garden tours held every two years. This year’s tour will be on June 24.
