Bette Clem

1929-2017

Bette Laura Gordon Clem, 88, of Danville, passed away Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born in Hayworth, Illinois on Jan. 7, 1929, to the late William and Dora Howard Gordon.

Bette was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Oren Clem.

Bette was a bookkeeper for Harper Pharmacy for many years. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was very much involved, included leading the nursery since the beginning of the church.

Surviving is a son, Arthur Clem (Sharon) of Cleveland, Tennessee; a daughter, Laura Roller (Danny) of Danville; two brothers, Bill Gordon of Illinois and Jim Gordon (Nancy) of Owensboro; six grandchildren, LeeAnn Metcalfe (Mike), Danny Ray Roller (Nikki), Shonna Brown (Danny), Mary Roller, Eric Clem (Jen), and Andy Clem (Betsy); and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Neil Clem and Larry Clem; and a brother, Kenneth Gordon.

Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Rowe and Rev. Ernest Martin officiating. Burial in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to Calvary Baptist Child Care, Gideon’s International, and Oneida Baptist Institute.www.prestonpruitt.com
