William “Billy” Pendleton

1934-2017

William “Billy” Pendleton, 82, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at his home on Lexington Road. He was born in Garrard County on December 9, 1934, to the late William Gobel and Jennie Hammack Pendleton. Billy is survived by his loving wife, Freda Moore Pendleton.

Billy was a Garrard County businessman for many years. He loved the Garrard County community immensely, wanting nothing more than to see its progression. Among many roles he took on, Billy was a farmer, served as the Garrard County Democratic Chairman for many years, a longtime supporter of Relay for Life, and currently presided on the Farmers Bank of Lancaster Board.

He was a longtime member of the Antioch Christian Church, but attended Lancaster Church of Nazarene and First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. Along with his wife Freda, surviving are three nephews, Rob Montgomery, Richard Cook and Tim Cook; a niece, Pam Oakley; a dear friend and sidekick, Mike Fitzpatrick; and a great-nephew, Alex Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Pendleton and a great-nephew, Grant Oakley.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold McLaren, Rev. Leon Thomas, and Rev. Mike Denny offciating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Sebastian, Carl York, Phillip Carrier, Mark Fitzpatrick, Alex Montgomery, Ed Worley and Ken Hurt. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitch Fitzpatrick, Gene Webb, Bobby Reed, Keith Middleton, Kevin Middleton, Paul Purcell and James Bushnell.
