Correction

The FIGHT substance abuse resource fair will be 2-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 at Danville Church of God, 516 S. Fourth St. The event is free and open to the public. It will feature insurance providers, rehab facilities and other information for addicts and families.

The date was printed incorrectly in a story from Monday, March 7.

Closure scheduled for rail crossing located on Ky. 1160/Mayo Road in Mercer County

HARRODSBURG — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways, announces that a temporary closure is scheduled for the railroad crossing located on Ky. 1160/Mayo Road at milepoint 10.69 in Harrodsburg from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 9. 

Ephraim McDowell Health sponsoring free health screening on March 25

PAINT LICK — Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free health screening from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Leavel Green Christian Church in Paint Lick on March 25. 

Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, take-home colorectal cancer screening kits (over age 50), heart risk, stress and depression. After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.

Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel. This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose. 

Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended.  To schedule an appointment, call (859) 339-3103 or (859) 925-2088. The screenings are open to the public for anyone 18 years and older.
