Highland Elementary wins championship at District Governor’s Cup

Led by Coach Joy Robertson, Highland Elementary was the overall District Champion at the Governor’s Cup held on Saturday, Feb. 11. Highland won the overall competition with 42.5 points overall for the day. The Quick Recall team was runner-up at the District, advancing them to the Regional competition. Several students won medals in the written assessment potion of the competition. Hallie Mullins won first place and Maecey Carrier won fourth place in the Mathematics written assessment. Highland had three Science winners – Gavin Lewis – 1st place, Austin Pennington – 3rd place, and Caden Bastin- 5th place. In the area of Social Studies, Austin Pennington won second place and Maecey Carrier won third place. In the Language Arts competition, Lindsay Bryant scored 2nd place while Nikki Mounce placed 5th .For Arts and Humanities, Brooklyn Adams was the overall winner and Nikki Mounce was 2nd place. For English Composition., Brooklyn Adams placed 5th overall.
