The Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County needs the public’s help. Actually, it is the children of the community who will really appreciate the help.

Three scholarship programs have been established by the Arts Commission which offer every child in the community the chance to participate in arts activities regardless of their ability to pay.

• The McKune Visual Arts Scholarship — For classes and opportunities to explore the visual arts

• The Powell Performing Arts Scholarship — To enable participation in performance related programs

• The Lockhart Art is Vital Fund — To provide community wide arts and arts related activities focusing on children and families

The Art-full Affair is the Arts Commission’s bi-annual fundraiser. It is made possible through the generosity of artists and arts related businesses who donate items or services which are selected by ticket holders through a draw. The Commission can only sell as many tickets as it receives donations, so everyone wins.

The event is a two-evening experience. The Preview Party will be the evening of Friday, May 19. Donors and ticket holders will enjoy food, entertainment and a cash bar while perusing the varied and creative art and services which will be available on Saturday, May 20 when the doors open that evening for last looks, great food and a cash bar before the drawing begins.

Pioneer Playhouse is again hosting the affair.

In addition to the items available for selection in the draw, there will be several items offered for live auction. Tickets to the event will cost $100.

The community’s participation in the Art-Full Affair will make a difference in some lucky kids’ lives.

SO YOU KNOW

• The Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County asks those who are interested consider sharing their talents through a donation. The commission’s custom has always been that the value of work or service is at least double the $100 ticket price.
