Cordell Kenneth Brown

1951-2017

Cordell Kenneth Brown, 65, of Danville, passed away Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Walters Brown. Cordell was born November 20, 1951 to Adell Cochran Brown of Liberty and the late Marvin Brown.

Cordell attended Casey County High School, Lindsey Wilson Jr. College, Cumberland College, and graduated from Samford University Pharmacy School. He practiced pharmacy for 40 years and retired from King Pharmacy in Hazard, KY, November 2016.

He was an active member of Southland Christian Church, where he was involved in volunteering and his life group. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was happiest surrounded by his grandchildren and family.

Also surviving is one son, Micah Brown of Somerset; two daughters, Sarah Underwood (Jon) of Wilmore and Rebekah Bertram (Josh) of Danville; a daughter-in-law, Pam Brown of Lexington; nine grandchildren: Andrew Doyle, Hunter Brown, Aly Doyle, Laura Brown,Clayton Bertram, Claire Bertram, Davis Underwood, Dexter, and Cate; and three sisters, Marlene Carmicle (Mike) of Liberty, Dianne Brown of Lousiville, and Teresa East of Liberty.

Funeral services 12PM Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Glenn Toney officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 6-9PM on Monday, March 27, 2017.

Pallbearers will be Jack Coffey, David Aldridge, Rick Lee, Steve Brown, Josh Bertram, and Jon Underwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Cordell’s honor to James Graham Brown Cancer Center-Melanoma Research Louisville, Kentucky www.browncancercenter.louisville.edu
