American Legion Auxiliary Perryville Unit 301 — 6 p.m. Monday, April 10 at Perryville Christian Church on Third Street.

Friends of the Library — 7 p.m. Monday, April 10 at the Boyle County Public Library community room. The speaker will be Tom Eblen, the metro/state columnist for the Lexington Herald-Leader and Kentucky.com. He has had an outstanding career as a journalist and was the Herald-Leader’s managing editor from 1998-2008. He was an editor of The Atlanta Constitution. Refreshments will be served.

Daughters of the American Revolution — 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 14 at the Danville Country Club. Lunch will be served and cost is $12 per person. Any woman age 18 or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the America Revolution is eligible for membership in the DAR.

Business Professional Women — 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 17 at the Depot restaurant in Stanford. At this meeting the club will recognize Equal Pay Day, which was officially April 4. Anyone interested in joining is invited to attend.

Lincoln memorial ceremony at Camp Nelson

Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park invites you to witness the Lincoln memorial ceremony that was held 152 years ago at Camp Nelson. The event will be 10 a.m. April 22 at the park, 6614 Danville Road, Nicholasville. Admission is free.

The 12th USCT Heavy Artillery regiment will honor the death of President Lincoln with a 21 cannon salute. The Association of Lincoln Presenters will be in attendance.

Ephraim McDowell Health sponsoring free health screenings on April 22

HARRODSBURG — Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free health screening from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday April 22 at Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Harrodsburg.

Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, stroke risk and take-home colorectal cancer screening kits (over age 50).  After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.

Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel.  This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose. 

The screenings are open to the public for anyone 18 years of age and older. You may call (270) 316-8654 for an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome.
