This Week’s Events at the Library

The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care 6 p.m. Mondays, Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and Coding Clubs 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. In addition to these weekly events, the following library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

Adult How-To Workshop: Green Cleaning

The library offers a monthly “How-To” program series for adults where participants can explore the information and skills needed for a new hobby or activity, guided by a local expert. On Monday, May 22, at 6 p.m., the library will host “Green Cleaning,” presented by Alethea Price from the Boyle County Cooperative Extension Office. Workshop participants will learn how to how create “green” cleaning products out of household ingredients. This program will be held in the Community Room.

Nutrition Condition (Week 8)

On Thursday May 25, at noon, the library will be hosting “Nutrition Condition,” a health and wellness workshop series offered in partnership with the Boyle County Cooperative Extension Office. Workshop participants will learn how to improve their nutrient intake and learn how to eat better on a budget. This the final week of the series.

Tween Lab

The lbrary offers a monthly STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lab for tweens. Tween Lab will be held on Thursday, May 25, at 4 p.m. in the Children’s Library. This month, participants will be making “fluffy slime.” Registration is required for this event. Tweens (ages 9-13) interested in attending may register for the program by signing up in the Children’s Library.

Teen Book Club

The Teen Book Club will meet at the library 4 p.m. on Friday, May 26. The book club, for ages 13-18, will be discussing “Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi. Snacks will be provided. To receive a copy of the book, please see Julia Basil at the Library.

Computer Classes

In the ongoing effort to promote lifelong learning, the Library offers a wide variety of free computer classes every month. The following classes are scheduled for this week:

• Introduction to Microsoft Excel on Monday, May 22, at 11 a.m.

• Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint on Tuesday, May 23, at 2 p.m. 

• Job Seeking and Applications on Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m.

In addition to these classes, one-on-one computer support is also available by appointment.
