Carys Kunze, from Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, will present historic sacred Shaker music written during the 19th century by the Kentucky Shakers of Pleasant Hill. These songs feature beautiful melodies and heartfelt texts intended for a simple setting, as the music was historically sung by congregations in unison, without instruments or harmony. Performances will be held in the McDowell House at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 p.m. Wisdom’s Voice, a recording of historic Kentucky Shaker music featuring Ms. Kunze and recorded in the Shaker’s 1820 Meeting House, will be available onsite.
