BURGIN – Northpoint Training Center (NTC) recently presented a check for $5265.58 to the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) making NTC the first institution in the Kentucky Department of Corrections to become a lifetime member.

Northpoint Training Center staff have worked diligently for the past year to raise money for the organization through various fundraisers. The most recent fundraiser was a Golf Scramble held at Old Bridge Golf Club in Danville, on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The success of this event enabled the institution to reach their $5,000 goal and exceed it. CorrectCare Solutions (CCS) was a corporate sponsor for the event and Napier Counseling, Inc., Northpoint Training Center Staff Canteen, Warden DeEdra Hart of Green River Correctional Complex, NOA Counseling, Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency, Central Kentucky Federal Savings Bank, Harley’s Family Tire, Kentucky Health Administrators, Kentucky Deferred Compensation, J.E.T. Tank Testing, Jerry Smothers of Edward Jones Financial, Art Nearhoof of Main Source Bank, Marquis Software and Aramark were hole sponsors. Nukem Graphics of Lebanon, Kentucky donated all sponsorship signs. Other local businesses donated prizes for raffles.

“I am always amazed at the generosity of our staff and the community that supports us,” said Warden Bottom. “It is an honor to become a lifetime member of the CPOF, an organization which has helped staff at NTC on so many occasions. We are blessed to be able to give back to them in this way.”

The CPOF is a national, non-profit charitable organization created in 1984. Its primary function is to preserve and support the surviving families of correctional officers who lose their lives in pursuit of their chosen profession of protecting the public. The organization also has a catastrophic assistance program that provides financial assistance during a catastrophic illness, injury or event.
