Horse trail ride will benefit children’s camp in Perryville on Father’s Day

HARRODSBURG — Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen (FHBCH) is having a charitable trail ride at Camp Horsin’ Around on Father’s Day, June 18 beginning at 4 p.m. All riders must bring their own horse, with a negative coggins required for each animal.

Camp Horsin’ Around is located at 1159 Claunch Road, Perryville. The cost is $15 per horse, with all proceeds benefitting Camp Horsin’ around. Riders are also asked to bring a snack to share, their own drinks and chairs.

“Camp Horsin’ around is such a great cause and offers a beautiful facility,” said Emily Dennis, FHBCH president. “We look forward to returning for another enjoyable trail ride to celebrate Father’s Day and Camp Horsin’ Around’s great work with children.”

Camp Horsin’ Around provides an outdoor camp adventure for children whose health is compromised or who have special needs. The camp welcomes donations, with all contributions tax deductible.

Based in Harrodsburg, Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen is a local (501)(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in America’s backcountry. The group helps maintain local trails and works to insure that public lands remain open for recreational stock use.

Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen also support local charities, including equine-related groups and youth organizations. The group meets at the Mercer County Extension office the first Thursday of every month except during the summer and hosts monthly trail rides when the weather permits.
