JUNCTION CITY — The local chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth (KFTC) is celebrating another year of good work with a big barn party that the whole community is invited to attend. The Wilderness Trace KFTC chapter, comprising Boyle, Mercer, Garrard, and Lincoln counties, will host the fifth annual Down Home Barn Bash, an evening of family-fun, local food, music, art, and learning, on Saturday, June 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Woodwind Farm, located at 36 Yates Road in Junction City.

Leah Bayens, one of the KFTC members planning the event, is excited to again co-host the Barn Bash at her family’s farm. “We love having families and friends, old and new, gather next to the lake and in the barn to make connections, listen to great music, and chow on locally-sourced food,” said Bayens. “I’m eager for people to celebrate the outstanding work our organization has done to further fairness, democracy, and healthy communities in Central Kentucky.”

Jim Porter, another KFTC member on the planning team, sees the Barn Bash as an opportunity to celebrate the organization’s growth and accomplishments, including continued local work to stop the Kinder-Morgan pipeline-repurposing project. Porter, who has been very active in the pipeline work, said, “A big issue like the pipeline brings us together,” said Porter. “I feel like I now know so many people so much better than I did before.”

More than 100 people are expected to gather for the Barn Bash, the Danville Dulcimers will provide music. There will also be a silent auction.

The rain-or-shine event is free and open to all.  KFTC will serve locally sourced food for a donation of $7 per adult and $2 per child.
